DU LLB Eligibility

  • Three Year Law Degree Course: An applicant who has graduated in any discipline knowledge from a University established by an Act of Parliament or by a State legislature or an equivalent national institution recognized as a deemed to be University or foreign University recognized as equivalent to the status of an Indian University by an authority competent to declare equivalence, may apply for a three years’ degree program in law leading to conferment of LL.B. degree on successful completion of the regular program conducted by a University whose degree in law is recognized by the Bar Council of India for the purpose of enrolment.
  • Minimum marks in qualifying examination for admission:
    The eligibility criteria for admission to LL.B. Degree course is as follows:-
    • For General candidates, Graduate/Post-Graduate Degree from the University of Delhi or any other Indian or Foreign University recognize d as equivalent by the University of Delhi with at least 50% marks or an equivalent grade point in the aggregate in either of them.
    • For other backward classes (OBC) candidates, Graduate/Post-Graduate Degree from the University of Delhi or any other Indian or Foreign University recognized as equivalent by the University of Delhi with at least 45% marks.
    • For Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) candidates, a Graduate/Post-Graduate Degree from the University of Delhi or any other Indian or Foreign University recognized as equivalent by the University of Delhi with at least 40% marks. ( As per Bar Council of India requirements)
    • Relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum eligibility prescribed for general candidates will be allowed to widows/wards of ex-servicemen/serving personnel (CW) category.
    • Relaxation of up to 5% marks in the minimum eligibility prescribed for general candidates will be allowed to the candidates belong ing to physically handicapped (PH) category on the recommendations of the Medical Board as per the prescribed procedure.

Provided that such a minimum qualifying marks shall not automatically entitle a person to get admission into an institution but only shall entitle the person concerned to fulfill other institutional criteria notified by the institution concerned or by the government concerned from time to time to apply for admission.


DU LLM Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for admission to LL.M. (Tw o-Year/Three-Year) Degree course shall be as follows:-

  • For General category and her Backward Classes (OBC) candidates, a three-year/five-year LL.B. Degree from the University of Delhi or any other Indian or Foreign University recognized as equivalent by the University of Delhi with at least 50% marks or an equivalent grade point in the aggregate for Two-Year/Three-Year Course LLM. The OBC candidates shall be given a relaxation in the minimum eligibility in the qualifying examination and in the minimum eligibility to take the entrance test to the extent of 10% of the minimum eligibility marks prescribed for the general category candidate. For example, if the minimum eligibility for admission to a course is 50% for the general category candidate, the minimum eligibility for the OBCs would be 45% i.e. (50% less 10% of 50%). It is re-iterated that the OBC candidates who belong to the ‘non-cream y layer’ and whose castes appear in the Central List of the OBC only shall be eligible to be considered for admission under the OBC category.
  • The candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) having a three year/five-year LL.B. Degree from the University of Delhi or any other Indian or Foreign University recognized as equivalent by the University of Delhi with at least 45% marks for 2yr/3yr LLM or an equivalent grade point in the aggregate in either of them.
  • Relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum eligibility prescribed for general candidates will be allowed to widows/wards of ex-servicemen/serving personnel (CW)category.
  • Relaxation of up to 5% marks in the minimum eligibility prescribed for general candidates will be allowed to the candidates belonging to physically handicapped (PH) category on the recommendations of the Medical Board as per the prescribed procedure.

The admission to LL.M. course shall be made on the basis of merit in the LL.M. Entrance Test held each year.
